A gift box for Madelaine...

 A gift box for a friend.. 

En liten present till en vän....

The box is covered in dry embossed cardstock sealed with Matte Medium 

and then painted with acrylic paints from Decoart. 

Lådan är täkt med embossad cardstock, ett lager Matte Medium och sedan

målad med akrylfärger från Decoart.

 First I painted the box brown then I dry brushed the raised areas with a gold 

metallic.  To get the green tarnished look I used Decoart Antiquing cream

Först målade jag lådan mörkbrun och torrborstade sedan med en guld färg.

Massor med grön Decoart Antiquing cream för att få den att se ärgat ut.

Lace on the edge of the lid.

Lite spets under färgen runt kanten på locket.

Two layers of cardstock. I used an embossing folder from Darice for the 

card underneath and then added a die cut (Die from Spellbinders) on top

sedan en die cut skuren med en die från Spellbinders ovanpå.

I had a hard time finding a gift for Madelaine that would fit in the box,

 not a great idea to make the box first and then go shopping for a birthday 

present LOL

När asken var klar insåg jag att jag borde nog hitta en present också....inte 

världens bästa ide att göra asken först och hitta en present i rätt storlek efteråt.

I lined the box with a golden tissue paper.

Asken är fodrad med ett tunt guldpapper

Another die from Spellbinders, I wish that it was my own handwriting...

but NO .. a laser print. Aged and distressed with acrylic paint.

Ännu en Spellbinders die, jag önskar verkligen att jag skrivit texten själv....

men NEJ det är en utskrift från laserskrivaren (fördelen är i alla fall att den

går att läsa) Lite akrylfärg för att få den se gammal och sliten ut.

I started out with a box, a pile of embossed cardstock, lace and some metal feet...

...and as always I changed my mind along the way, I ended up using Hitch 

Fasteners from Tim Holtz for feet instead of the ones I planned to use.

Jag hittade en papplåda i gömmorna, embossade lite cardstock och skar ut

några remsor med en Spellbinders die. Som vanligt ändrade jag mej under 

resans gång och bytte ut dom fötter jag tänkt använda mot Hitch Fastneners

från Tim Holtz. Konstigt att det aldrig blir som man tänkt sig :)

Frame it......

I'm always on the lookout for everyday objects with nice textures. I find

most of my "treasures" in flea markets or charity shops but this time I went

to the Dollar Store and was really pleased to find four plastic picture frames that

was just the thing I needed to make a display case for one of my doll heads.

Jag är ständigt på jakt efter vardagsföremål med läckra texturer. Jag hittar

de flesta av mina "fynd" på loppisar och biståndsbutiker men den här gången

fyndade jag på Dollar Store. Jag är riktigt nöjd med fotoramarna i plast jag

hittade, dom passade perfekt som byggmaterial när jag knåpade ihop ett

litet display skåp åt en av mina dockor.

The cabinet is built of the four plastic picture frames, foam board and pieces from

my "junk collection".

Skåpet är byggt av mina fyndade ramar, foam board och lite annat skrot ur mina 

gömmor.

The whole thing is primed with black gesso and painted with Decoart acrylics

from the new Media Line.

Hela skapelsen är grundad med svart gesso och målad med akrylfärger ur 

Decoarts nya Media Line

A lot of color washes and dry brushing....

Massor med torrborstning och lager på lager med färg för att skapa patina.

I used a lot of Decoart Antiquing creams.....

Jag har använt massor av min nya favorit Antiquing Creams i olika färger.

Brads and chipboard strips to hold the frames together, and of course hot glue.

Chipboard remsor med brads i hörnen för att hålla ihop det hela, och massor med 

smält lim så klart.

A lot of "old junk" on the top....

Diverse skrot på toppen....

The lid comes off to make it easier to change the content.

Toppen är ett lock som går att lyfta av, det gör det lättare att byta innehållet.

I made the cabinet for my little friend, but you never know, I might change my mind 

and replace her with a christmas angel........or not LOL.

Skåpet är visserligen tillverkat till min nya dockvän, men man vet aldrig, jag kanske 

byter ut henne mot en ljuv julängel snart...eller inte :)

I'm very fond of my little friend. She was a bit worn when I found her at a flea 

market (I guess someone loved her very much in her previous life and really 

showed it) I did add to the decay using some Decoart Antiquing cream.

Jag gillar verkligen min nya vän. Hon var redan lite sliten när jag hittade henne på en 

loppis i sommar ( Jag antar att hon varit mycket älskad i sitt tidigare liv) jag bättrade

på hennes medfarna utseende med Antiquing Cream från Decoart.

A phone case for Halloween.

Ett skal till telefonen med Halloweenkänsla. 

An easy way to get a very personal phone is to alter a phone case.

Ett enkelt sätt att få en VÄLDIGT personlig telefon är att altra ett

telefon skal.

Since Halloween is right around the corner I thought it was a good idea to make

a skull phone case. ( I can't deny that i like skulls all year long, not only for halloween)

Eftersom det snart är halloween tyckte jag det passade bra med en dödskalle.

Jag kan väl inte direkt förneka att jag gillar dödskallar året om :)

I think he looks like a nice guy??

Han ser väl ut att vara en ganska trevlig kille??

It looks like my halloween friend peeks out of a rock.....if you get tired of carry a 

rock around it's easy to change the case into something more lightweight...

Han verkar titta fram ur en sten, tröttnar man på att släpa omkring på en "stentelefon" 

är det tur att det är enkelt att byta skal.....

What inspires YOU?

I had a great day at the Swedish railway museum last week, filled with steam engines, 

trains, old cars and motorcycles and a Steampunk exhibition......that was my inspiration 

for this strange creation. A steampunk inspired wine dispenser I call him YNo.1 

I addition, it was a great project to test my new Fluid Acrylics and different mediums 

from the new Media Line by DecoArt. I went through my stash of scrap, junk, flea 

market finds and other strange things and this is the result.

The box made from foam board. A first coat of black acrylic paint then

a coat of Weathered Wood Crackle Medium. When the Crackle medium was dry I

applied a coat of Cadmium Red Hue and a top coat of Quinacridone Gold.

I always knew this old pressure gauge would come in handy someday LOL

One of my absolute favorites in the new Media Line is the Antiquing creams.

An easy way to get a tarnished, distressed and rusty look....the draw latch was first

painted with black acrylic paint then a coat of English Red Oxide Antiquing cream,

when dry I wiped back the Antiquing cream with a damp soft cloth.

A piece of chipboard covered in Texture Sand Paste. Painted in black and 

of course Red English  Oxide Antiquing cream. The R and W are old typewriter

keys. (R for red and W for white) A plastic cog from an alarm clock to hold the 

"rusty plate" in place.

 Everything is glued into place with hot glue.

Ignition breaker points......

An old Camera Shutter Release Cable and some metal parts.

The main switch....two lids from juice cartons, painted with Carbon

Black and then dry brushed with Metallic Gold.

A typewriter ribbon spool, a wheel from a toy motorcycle and a button.

The drive belt is really a black metal sleeve holder.

Chess pieces for feet. 

The corner reinforcements covered with Patina Green Antiquing cream.

An advanced warning system.....

The "machine" runs on gold pellets.....(golden microbeads)

A white plastic extractor fan painted black and dry brushed in gold. 

The fan blades painted with Cobalt Turquoise Hue, covered in Crackle Glaze.

Black Antiquing Cream to highlight the cracks. Two buttons in the middle.

Texture Sand Paste and English Red Antiquing Cream.

A plastic bowl, a lid from a mason jar and a glass dome on top.

The plastic bowl first painted with Titanium White then a thin coat of 

Quinacridone Gold. Crackle Glaze on top and Carbon Black Antiquing cream.

Cogs and gears and some rhinestones under the glass dome.

Nothing exciting on the back.....

A 3 liter "bag in box" wine bag fits perfectley inside the "machine"
