Graphic 45 Design Team 2014 Audition

 Graphic 45 are having a Design Team call...... a challenge hard to resist :)

For the DT audition you are supposed to create a blogpost with a minimum

of six projects.....I decided to make four new projects and throw in a couple 

of my own old favorites in the end...so here we go!

First of all: The new stuff!!

I looked through my piles of paper and found a 8x8 Le Cirque paper pad and

a few miscellaneous "golden oldies".

 I combined my two favorite things.... gift boxes and flowers.

The box made from black cardstock.

I must admit I do have "a thing" for flowers..... 

A great way to use every tiny piece of paper...

A few flower punches goes a long way..

Distress Ink on the edges, some rhinestones and pearls...

Another thing that I'm very fond of is surprises... "Don't judge the

book by the covers" is probably my favorite saying...

I guess no one uses dictionaries anymore since Google translator came into our

lives ...... I found another use for an old Swedish-English dictionary.....

A little bit of acrylic paint and some Metallic Lustre on the spine.

It needed something to keep the new colorful pages in place....

Hmmmm.....???

Le cirque!!!

My fearless heroine keeps doing "her thing" regardless of all the commotion

going on around her.

Another thing that isn't what it looks to be at first glance....

A card that fits in an ordinary envelope...

.....but is everything but ordinary when it opens up

A Pop-up box card is a cool way to send someone a wonderful surprise

by mail.

A gift for a gentleman?

The box measures 4,5x9x2" 

A clue to what's inside...

Pretty sure it's not a top hat...

I wonder if real gentleman wears purple ties??

Strips of cardstock holds the tie in place...

Lined with a paper that is perfect for a real gentleman....

That was the new projects....and now for the "oldies".

I decided to include some of my favorite projects from the past....

A mini chest of drawers.....or a bunch of stacked matchboxes with

a metal part from an old alarm clock on top?!

A battery operated tea light candle inside. Brass knobs as feet.

A nice addition on my craft table where it keeps my tiny brads organized.

I do like to make "useful things" gift boxes is always useful, but I

especially like to make "personalized" gift boxes.

This one was made for someone celebrating his 18th birthday.

The birthday boy loves mathematics and is studying to

become an engineer, numbers, cogs and gears.....

I used to categorize myself as a cardmaker but I'm not

sure what I would call myself now....

But of course I still do make a card or two....

But as I said I DO HAVE A THING FOR MAKING PAPER FLOWERS... 

Sometimes I lose control over my "flower addiction".....

I get carried away.....

Still awake?? 

A lot of pictures......I hope It gave a glimpse of my "creative life" 

Most of all I try to have FUN and do the things that makes me HAPPY!

So much fun when you get to combine different interests in the same project.

Over at the StampArtic blog the theme for today is about reusing candy wrapper.

I love to build strange things out of paper and I can't deny that I love chocolate!!! 

Trevligt när man kan kombinera olika intressen i samma projekt.

På StampArtic bloggen i dag handlar det om att återanvända godispapper.

Jag älskar att bygga märkliga saker av papper och jag kan ju inte förneka 

att min kärlek för choklad inte  är helt obetydlig :)

 I made a small "cabinet" 13X18 cm.

First of all I had to eat two chocolate bars to make the doors for my little cabinet.

It's a hard job...but I will do what it takes to get the job done LOL.

I embossed the doors in an embossing folder from Spellbinders (Celtic knot)

Till dagens inlägg blev det ett litet "skåp" 13x18 cm.

Först av allt blev jag tvungen att äta upp två chokladkakor för att få material till

dörrarna. Ett tufft jobb men man får ju offra sej.... 

Jag embossade dörrarna i en embossing folder från Spellbinders (Celtic knot)

I tried to find a box of chocolates in the right size for the cabinet, but

in the end I had to build a box of cardstock, maybe it's for the best.....I guess

I have had enough chocolate this week anyway.

Försökte hitta en chokladask i rätt mått för att passa med dörrarna men jag fick 

ge upp. Jag fick knåpa ihop en egen i cardstock i sället. Kanske bäst så, jag antar 

att jag ätit mer än tillräckligt av choklad den här veckan.

The hinges for the doors is small strips of leather attached with brads.

"Gångjärnen" är smala remsor av läder fästa med brads.

Acrylic paint for the doors, I painted the doors black, color washes in 

blue and green and finished them off by dry brushing them with a bit of gold. 

The lock is from Panduro Hobby.

Sen plockade jag fram en annan kärlek, akrylfärgerna. Grundmålade dörrarna 

svarta, sedan flera tunna lager grönt och till sist torrborstning med guld för att

framhäva mönstret. Låset kommer från Panduro Hobby.

Inside there is a pocket to keep secret messages (or maybe hide the good chocolate

from the rest of the family. LOL)

Inuti finns en ficka för hemliga meddelanden (eller kanske den är till för att

gömma den goda chokladen för resten av familjen :)

The pocket is really a piece of a leather wallet. (Actually my husbands wallet, 

I don't think he will miss it, the receipts I found in it was from 1982) 

The inside of the cabinet is covered with metal foil, of course it is candy 

wrapping!!! I used double sided adhesive tape to stick the small pieces to the 

background and then sealed the whole thing with bees wax.

To get a dark, distressed look I applied black Gesso and then wiped it 

back with a babywipe.  

Fickan är egentligen en del av en gammal läderplånbok. (Faktiskt makens gamla 

plånbok. Tror inte han kommer att sakna den, hittade några gamla kvitton 

från 1982 i den) Insidan på skåpet är täckt med folie, godispapper så klart. 

Jag använde dubbelhäftande tape för att fästa de knöliga små bitarna, förseglade 

det hela med ett tunt lager bivax. Kladdade på svart Gesso och torkade av med 

babywipe innan det torkat ordentligt.

And this is my message for today!!!

Dagens budskap: Tala inte illa om kalorier!! 

Dom är absolut oumbärliga för vår överlevnad.

A black velvet ribbon around the edges and a kitchen kabinet handle

on top for decoration.

Ett svart sammetsband runt kanten inuti skåpet och ett kökshandtag

på toppen som dekoration.

Kreativ Hobby...

Not every day I make cards with a birthday greeting in norwegian, but there 

is a perfectly logical explanation.....The StampARTic Design Team was 

sponsored by the Norwegian company Kreativ Hobby. I got three lovely stamps 

in the mail from our sponsor. I put my thinking cap on and woundered what 

I would use them for..and finally I came up with an idea....

A card, or is it a birthday gift sent by mail?

Inte direkt ofta jag gör kort med norsk text...men det har sin förklaring.

Designteamet på StampARTic blev sponsrade av det norska företget Kreativ Hobby.

Tre underbara stämplar från vår sponsor  landade i min brevlåda, jag kurade 

ett tag på hur jag skulle använda dem och kom till sist på en idé..

Ett kort, eller en födelsedagspresent som skickats per post?

Base of black cardstock, covered with ordinary brown wrapping paper. The wrapping 

papper got a aged look with Distress Stain Vintage Photo. Bakers twine with a birthday 

greeting stapled to a small tag.

Stomme av svart cardstock, täckt med vanligt brunt omslagspapper. Papperet är

infärgat med Distess Stain Vintage Photo. Papperssnöre med en födelsedagshälsning

häftat på en liten tag.

The post stamp says Dec 1909.... I wonder if the mailman will deliver

this parcel...but it's a beautiful stamp!

Poststämplat Dec 1909 jag undrar om posten kommer att dela ut 

det här paketet....men en vacker stämpel är det!

It looks like the parcel got damaged during transport....the content is falling out...

the stamped cogs are embossed with gold embossing powder.

Det verkar som om födelsedagspresenten har gått sönder i transporten.. innehållet

håller visst på att ramla ut...kugghjulsstämpeln embossad med guld embossing

pulver.

Chipboard numbers (cut with dies from Sizzix/Holtz) inside the "parcel" creating

the number 2012 which is the year all these stamp are from!!

Siffror i cardstock inuti paketet (utskurna med en die från Sizzix/Holtz) bildar

talet 2012 vilket råkar vara det år som dom här stämplarna släpptes!!

Brick by brick.....

An ATC (Artist Trading Card)  is usually a flat card with a fixed size ... 

2.5 "X 3.5" (or 6,4 x8, 9cm). Then there's "Chunky ATC's" which can be 

really chunky, lucky for me that likes 3D! 

Here's a Chunky ATC I made for an ATC Swap at Haunted Design House.

Ett ATC (Artist Trading Card)  är oftast ett platt kort har ett bestämt mått... 

2,5"X 3,5" eller på ren svenska 6,4x8,9 cm. Sen finns det "Chunky ATC:s" 

som kan vara vilken tjocklek man vill, tur för mej som gillar 3D !!!

En mini fängelsehåla!!!

The spiders seem to like it ..... even if they are made ​​of plastic and comes out of a 

bag of halloween decorations.

Spindlarna verkar trivas.....även om dom är av plast och kommer ur en påse med

The dungeon is built of chipboard, narrow strips for the door and small rectangles

for bricks. Traditions acrylic paints, Texture Fierro and Texture Glass and Weathered 

Wood, from DecoArt.

Fängelsehålan byggd av chipboard, smala remsor till dörren och små rektanglar

som tegelstenar. Traditions akrylfärger, Texture Fierro och Texture Glass och 

dessutom ett krackelerings medium, Weathered Wood allt från DecoArt.

I glued my little chipboard box together,  fixed my bricks with Texture Glass.

The inside was painted with acrylic paint, first black then a layer Weathered Wood

crackle medium and finally orange.

Jag limmade ihop stommen, och murade fast mina tegelstenar med Texture Glass.

Insidan målades med akrylfärg, först svart sedan ett lager Weathered Wood 

och till sist en orange färg.

The exterior primed with black acrylic paint, and then Texture Fierro on the 

"bricks" giving a surface that is almost similar to metal but that is very well suited as 

bricks too. The door was painted green and then dry brushed  with a little white.

Även utsidan grundade med svart akrylfärg, och sedan Texture Fierro som ger

en yta som nästan liknar metall men som passar mycket bra som tegelstenar också.

Dörren målades grön och torrborstades sedan med lite vitt.

From the kitchen

Nathalie Kalbach CJS 2014 is over .... but it was a fun source of inspiration ...

 the idea was to use different things in your artwork, ordinary everyday 

items you can find in your home and recycle as material for your artwork.

The design team at StampARTic blog had a "from the kitchen" theme the other day 

so I went looking in my kitchen drawers and cabinets, and this was what I 

found ...

Nathalie Kalbach CJS 2014 är  över....men det var verkligen en inspirationskälla...

allt gick ut på att använda lite annorlunda saker i sitt skapande, vanliga vardags 

prylar som man kan hitta hemma och återvinna som material till sitt "pyssel" 

Design Teamet på StampARTic bloggen hade dessutom tema "från köket" 

häromdagen...så jag letade i mina kökslådor och skåp och det här var vad jag 

hittade...

 Looks like I found a journal in my kitchen.... A on the back for Angelica. 

The lady on the front is a Mary Vogel Lozinak design.

Verkar som om jag hittade en pärm/journal/anteckningsbok eller vad ni vill kalla 

den i köket.... A som i Angelica på ryggen, damen på framsidan är en Mary 

Vogel Lozinak design.

Metallic flowers and plastic leaves coloured with Alco Inks. 

Metalliska blommor och plastlöv, allt färgat med Alco Inks.

Paper Clips holds the papers on the front cover, a ring binder so you

can file your notes.....

Pappersklämmor håller fast pappren, och sedan är det bara att sortera in

dom bakom rätt flik!

I found some empty packaging...(I must admit the bag of potato chips

wasn't empty when I found it.) Napkins, coffee filters, a ziplock bag and drinking 

straws....

Jag letade fram några tomma förpackningar... (Det är väl lika bra att erkänna att 

chipspåsen inte var tom när jag hittade den) Servetter, juice förpackning, knäckformar

och kaffe filter en ziplock påse och några sugrör.

I made a cover of the empty cookie box, dividers and tabs of the cereal box.

And I cut a lot of flowers... of the foil bag, some foil "thingies" and a juice carton.

I cut a few leaves from the plastic bag.

Det blev en pärm av kakförpackningen, ett register av flingpaketet och massor

med metalliska blommor av folie påsen, knäckformarna och några kaffe filter.

Blad av plastpåsen.

I glued the napkins on the covers and the dividers using Decoart Textured 

Glass.

Jag limmade servetter på alla delar med Decoart Textured Glass för att få lite 

struktur. 

Different colours on all the parts...

Olika färg på alla delar....

A few color washes with Quinnacridone Gold.....

Några tunna lager Quinnacridone Gold...

....... and some dry brushing.

....och till slut lite torrborstning med vitt.

I stamped a few different stamps on a napkin and glued the to the covers using

 decoupage glue.

Jag stämplade några olika motiv på en servett och limmade fast med

decoupage lim.

A Canvas for StampARTic

A canvas (20x20 cm) was my contribution to he StampARTic blog today, 

a lot of shimmering mists and of course hearts since the theame was love....

En canvas (20x20 cm) blev mitt bidrag till StampARTic bloggen idag, massor 

med glittrande sprayer och mister och hjärtan så klart eftersom dagens tema var

kärlek...

I applied a lot of Decoart Texture Crackle throug a stencil. Glued a heart shaped baking

 tin in the middle. Pearls from an old pearl necklace around it. Key and keyhole 

from Tim Holtz. When all the decorations was glued into place I covered the whole 

thing with Gesso.

Jag började med att täcka duken med Decoart Texture Crackle genom en stencil.

Limmade en hjärtformad kakform i mitten. Pärlor från ett gammalt pärlhalsband runt

om. Nyckel och nyckelhål från Tim Holtz. När allt var limmat på plats täckte jag allt

med Gesso.

I glued Cheescloth to the sides of the canvas and covered it with Decoart Texture 

Crackle but you still can see some of it. A lot of Ink sprays....black Dylusions 

spray from Ranger and a lot of home made mists made from Luminarte Primary 

elements.

Jag limmade cheescloth på sidorna och täckte med Decoart Texture Crackle,

man kan se den titta fram runt kanterna. Massor med olika sprayer...svart

Dylusions spray från Ranger och en hel massa olika hemgjorda mister blandade

avLuminarte Primary elements.

Decoart Metallic Lustre Gold on the raised areas......

Decoart Metallic Lustre Gold på dom upphöjda partierna...

And finally i attached the "key to my heart" with a black paper string.

Och till slut knöt jag fast "nyckeln till mitt hjärta" med ett svart 

papperssnöre.
