Found objects...

I had a lot of fun playing with all the new fluid acrylics  and all the new 

mediums from the new Media line from Decoart. 

Jag gillar alltid att leka med färg, extra roligt när man får nya leksaker.

Här har jag lekt ordentligt med färger och olika medier från Decoarts nya

Media Line.

My playtime resulted in a 12x12 canvas, perfect as a background for a small

assemblage of found objects.

Resultatet blev en 12x12 canvas som fick bli bakgrund till ett litet hopplock

av några upphittade prylar.

Besides playing with paints my favourite thing to do is to rummage through flea

markets, garage sales and charity shops looking for "lost treasures"

Förutom att kladda med färg är nog min favoritsyssla att rota runt på 

loppmarknader, och secondhandbutiker på jakt efter förlorade skatter

You never know what you'll find.... maybe an old magnifying glass.....

a treasure for some, trash for others.

Man vet aldrig vad man kan hitta....kanske ett gammalt förstoringsglas...

en skatt för någon, sopor för andra.

Lot of different papers glued to the canvas gives many different textures..

Många olika sorters papper limmade på duken skapar många olika strukturer.

A birthday card for Arne...

I like to make personal birthday cards, and what could be more personal than the

birthday boy's name all over it ?? Since i don't have any cute cat stamps (I know he 

likes cats) I made a card with a base of wood since he used to work at a sawmill.

Jag gillar att göra personliga födelsedags kort, vad kan vara mer personligt än

att hela framsidan är fylld med födelsedagsbarnets namn? Eftersom jag tydligen

inte har några gulliga katt stämplar (jag vet att han gillar katter) som gjorde jag 

ett kort med en bas av en träbit eftersom han jobbade på ett sågverk.

A lot of chipboard letters glued to a pice of chipboard 7x7"

Primed with white Gesso, a base coat of Decoart Fluid acrylics Cobalt Teal Hue.

A colorwash of diluted Prussian Blue Hue.  And a lot of English Red Aniquing 

cream.

Massor med chipboard bokstäver, limmade på en 17x17 cm chipboard bit.

Grundade med vit Gesso, ett första lager av  Decoart Fluid acrylics Cobolt Teal Hue

sedan ett tunt lager av Prussian Blue Hue utspädd med hälften vatten.

Dessutom massor av English Red Antiquing cream.

Different kinds of chipboard letters, some of them bought and others cut with

Sizzix/Holtz dies (Wordplay and Blocktalk)

I dry brushed all the letters with Decoart Fluid Acrylic Metallic Gold.

Kraft Cardstock covered with a patterned paper from Prima nailed to

the wood. The birthday greeting is a laser print.

Själva baksidan av Kraft Cardstock, mönsterpapper från Prima och 

en liten födelsedagshälsning utskriven på kvistpapper med laserskrivare.

Image Transfer

I spent most of this amazing summer outdoors...a few garden projects and a lot of 

building and painting, I haven't managed to create anything in my craft room, 

to hot to even think about spending time indoors without air conditioning. 

But I'm really happy about my new outdoor kitchen and my my freshly 

painted fences. 

I needed a gift box for a bottle of wine for a friend so for the first time in 

months I'm back at my craft table....

Den här sommaren har det inte blivit mycket pysslat....tropisk värme och en hel del 

projekt här hemma. Det har målats staket och byggts utekök och ärligt talat har det 

inte känts direkt lockande att tillbringa den varmaste sommaren i "mannaminne" 

inomhus i pysselrummet. 

Men helt plötsligt dök behovet av en presentförpackning till en vinflaska upp... 

så för första gången på några månader är jag tillbaka vid arbetsbordet.

I used one of Andy Skinners Image Transfer Printables (you can find all of his

new Shabby Hi Res Image transfers HERE) I think this one is just perfect for

a shabby wine box.

Jag använde en av Andy Skinners nya motiv till en bildöverföring (ni hittar alla hans 

högupplösta vintage bilder HÄR) Den här passade perfekt till en presentbox som ska

innehålla en vinflaska.

A chipboard die cut (die from Spellbinders) glued to the tin before i painted it.

En remsa cardstock utskuren med en die från Spellbinders klistrad på burken innan 

jag målade den.

A metal decoration, a knob and a round piece of wood glued to the lid.

En metall dekoration, en knopp från en gardinstång och en träbit limmad på locket.

For this project I used:

Americana Multi Surface Satin Black, Americana Decor Chalky Finish Yesteryear,

Americana Decor Creme wax Golden Brown and the Matte Medium from the new 

Media Line, all from Decoart.

I glued all the pieces in place, and painted the whole thing black, two coats.

Jag började med att limma dit delarna på locket och de utstansade bårderna på

burken. Två lager svart färg.

Then one coat of Chalky Finish Yesteryear. I sanded down the paint to reveal some of 

the black paint. Before I applied a top coat of Brown creme wax I made an 

image transfer. Watch the video below by Andy Skinner if you want to learn how

to transfer images seamlessly using Decoart Media Matte Medium.

Ett lager Chalky Finish Yesteryear, jag slipade fram den svarta grundfärgen på några

ställen. Innan jag avslutade med ett lager Golden Brown creme wax för att få en riktigt 

antik look gjorde jag en bildöverföring med Matte Medium. Kolla in videon här under

What inspires YOU?

I had a great day at the Swedish railway museum last week, filled with steam engines, 

trains, old cars and motorcycles and a Steampunk exhibition......that was my inspiration 

for this strange creation. A steampunk inspired wine dispenser I call him YNo.1 

I addition, it was a great project to test my new Fluid Acrylics and different mediums 

from the new Media Line by DecoArt. I went through my stash of scrap, junk, flea 

market finds and other strange things and this is the result.

The box made from foam board. A first coat of black acrylic paint then

a coat of Weathered Wood Crackle Medium. When the Crackle medium was dry I

applied a coat of Cadmium Red Hue and a top coat of Quinacridone Gold.

I always knew this old pressure gauge would come in handy someday LOL

One of my absolute favorites in the new Media Line is the Antiquing creams.

An easy way to get a tarnished, distressed and rusty look....the draw latch was first

painted with black acrylic paint then a coat of English Red Oxide Antiquing cream,

when dry I wiped back the Antiquing cream with a damp soft cloth.

A piece of chipboard covered in Texture Sand Paste. Painted in black and 

of course Red English  Oxide Antiquing cream. The R and W are old typewriter

keys. (R for red and W for white) A plastic cog from an alarm clock to hold the 

"rusty plate" in place.

 Everything is glued into place with hot glue.

Ignition breaker points......

An old Camera Shutter Release Cable and some metal parts.

The main switch....two lids from juice cartons, painted with Carbon

Black and then dry brushed with Metallic Gold.

A typewriter ribbon spool, a wheel from a toy motorcycle and a button.

The drive belt is really a black metal sleeve holder.

Chess pieces for feet. 

The corner reinforcements covered with Patina Green Antiquing cream.

An advanced warning system.....

The "machine" runs on gold pellets.....(golden microbeads)

A white plastic extractor fan painted black and dry brushed in gold. 

The fan blades painted with Cobalt Turquoise Hue, covered in Crackle Glaze.

Black Antiquing Cream to highlight the cracks. Two buttons in the middle.

Texture Sand Paste and English Red Antiquing Cream.

A plastic bowl, a lid from a mason jar and a glass dome on top.

The plastic bowl first painted with Titanium White then a thin coat of 

Quinacridone Gold. Crackle Glaze on top and Carbon Black Antiquing cream.

Cogs and gears and some rhinestones under the glass dome.

Nothing exciting on the back.....

A 3 liter "bag in box" wine bag fits perfectley inside the "machine"
